The objective of War Chest is to place all of your control markers. Each round, players draw 3 tokens from their bag and take turns playing them. The played token can be placed on the board to create or reinforce a unit, discarded face down to draw a new token, pass, or become the first player, or discarded face up to move a matching token on the board, place a control marker, or attack an opponent's token. Each token corresponds to cards with unique characteristics that allow for specific actions. The game includes rules for two players, four players (two teams of two players each), advanced rules, and army composition proposals to recreate famous battles.
The game's authors, David Thompson and Trevor Benjamin, are the same as those of Undaunted: Normandy and North Africa. The contents of the game include 74 unit coins, 4 royal coins, 1 initiative marker, 16 unit cards (63.5x88mm), 16 faction control markers, 4 bags, 1 board, and a rulebook. The card size is 63.5x88mm. Please note that in the Nobility expansion, the Royal Guard card is modified. The Italian base game includes the card in its original version, as the modification of the card is only for the expansion.
