In this worker placement game, players relive the experiences of Charles Darwin during his adventures in the Galapagos, where he developed his theory of evolution. With an innovative advancement system, each worker specializes in the discipline required for the execution of actions, such as island exploration, maritime navigation, and correspondence.

Throughout the game, players collect various specimens of land and sea to facilitate subsequent scientific research. These specimens are then delivered to museums to contribute to the scientific knowledge of humanity. The game lasts for five rounds, during which players must strive to achieve short and long-term objectives. At the end of the game, the player with the most victory points wins.

The game includes a game board, 16 crew cards, 56 common wax seals (14 per type: blue, yellow, red, and green), 12 special wax seals (purple), 16 temporary knowledge tokens, 16 specimen tokens, 16 museum tiles, 30 research tokens, 40 coins (28 of value 1 and 12 of value 5), 12 special action tiles, 12 Beagle purpose tiles, 20 objective tiles (10 silver and 10 gold), 8 starting objective tiles (4 silver and 4 gold), 8 correspondence tiles, 2 neutral lens tokens, 1 HMS Beagle pawn, 1 turn order token in 2 players, and 1 summary card.

For solo play, the game includes 4 Alfred boards (back of personal boards) and 16 cards (8 Alfred action cards and 8 Alfred bonus path cards) sized 59x91mm. Each player receives a personal board, 5 wooden workers, 3 wooden explorers, 1 wooden ship, 4 wooden cubes, 5 wooden tents, and 12 stamps.
